Peter and Vivian Russell met at the K-W Branch in 1967, married and have shared many interests and hobbies. Vivian is a school teacher and at one time taught a SCD Children’s Class. In Peter’s work in Earth Sciences, he developed a hobby of collecting minerals. Another hobby is SCD. Both of these are pictured in the dance, which is named for Ontario’s mineral emblem, “Amethyst,” found near Thunder Bay. The diamond poussette represents the crystal forms, and the mirror reels the “teamwork” of atoms working together to form a perfect gem. 1st couple turning represents Peter’s and Vivian’s interest in dancing. Another joint interest is camping, and a favourite spot is near Thunder Bay on the Sibley Peninsula, with views over the lake to the hills called “The Sleeping Giant.” Peter was born in Leeds, England, while Vivian was Canadian Born in Strathroy, Ontario.
