In reply to a question on how 1W moves on bar 8 and bar 16, the deviser answered “This dance was written for children, but a slightly older group, and we were doing the Society’s Medal Tests. It is a while since I was teaching children and I can’t quite remember how we did it, but I suspect it was the easy way - dance out to place & face down, not finishing facing in then turning to face down. As you say, it could very easily turn into a twirl round, if someone is late. I have danced it in the Dundee Branch General class & I don’t think the class teacher has ever made any comment on this point. Again, my purpose in writing the dance was to teach & practice a 3 couple grand chain in an easy dance & that is what I concentrated on.”
