The dance was devised as a farewell present of the RSCDS Vienna Branch to John and Judith MacGregor, British Ambassadors in Vienna and Bratislava.
John Macgregor had been the Honorary President of the Branch for a couple of years. John and Judith MacGregor were leaving Austria in August 2007 as their appointments as ambassadors to Vienna and Bratislava came to an end.
The dance and tune was presented to them at the end-of-season dance at the residency of the British ambassador in Vienna.
A Note from “The Vienna Book”:
This is a very fluid dance. Although conventional barring is used in the description above, it should be taken only as an approximation of what happens at any given point in the dance. For the sake of convenience, couples should start and end each turn of the dance in the sidelines, facing each other.
