The notes say that “Culzean (pronounced Cul-lane) Castle, overlooking the Firth of Clyde, is one of the finest Adam houses in Scotland. Begun by Robert Adam in 1777 for the 10th Earl of Cassillis, it is in mock-Gothic style, and incorporates the tower of an earlier Kennedy stronghold.”
