Devised by Wouter Joubert, 20 March 2011, as a tribute to the brave people of Japan who are rebuilding their lives, their homes and their country after the devastating earthquake and Tsunami that struck Japan on 11 March 2011.
On 2 December 2017, Wouter J. wrote: “The e-crib instructions for bars 17-20 differs from any of the printed versions of this dance but it represents how I want these bars to be danced. The movement is intended to simulate waves slapping against something. Retaining hands on bar 18 certainly helps the dancers to execute the quick underarm change of places successfully and also adds energy and tension to the movement.”
