The dance was inspired by an event in Dance Scottish week in Bristol. Whilst dancing at a shopping mall, the Bristol RSCDS team saw people dressed up in Dr Who outfits. The dance shows: the arrival of the time machine/TARDIS (bars 1-8), the interaction of people after it has landed (9-24) and the chase back to original partners ready for another adventure (25-32). The Time Machine is written to encapsulate the adventures of the last 50 years.
Since the dance is mainly danced with a partner it symbolises the inclusive nature of Bristol RSCDS.
