The idea for this dance came from an inscription on a bridge over the river Tay which joins the villages of Strathtay and Grandtully. It is a memorial to Charles Brockbank a man from Birmingham who drowned in the river in 1873. He was possibly one of the first canoeing tourists and still the only one to drown in the river which runs rapidly and dangerously under the bridge.
