We see a bee coming in through the entrance hole, running up the combs and stopping motionless surrounded by other hive-mates. It then disgorges all the honey it has just collected. Then it begins to perform a kind of “round dance,” whirling round, changing direction many times, some hive-mates joining in. The bee is giving them instructions where to find a plentiful source of honey.
They take off and find the exact flowers that had been described to them. They return and repeat the dance for the other bees. Unless a honey crop is abundant enough to justify the calling up of a large army of foragers, no dances are performed inside the hive.
