Brian Charlton writes: Marengo Blue was written by a member of Sydney Branch, Maurice Harcombe, who moved back to his origins when he retired. The village he came from is called Murringo, but it’s original name was Marengo, after a battle in Napoleonic times. Maurice started a Class in the village and held an annual Dance for many years. Marengo Blue was first danced at one of these dances.
