The dance was devised by Ruth Taylor from Kingston, Ontario to accompany the tune “Ruth Frae Pitlochry” written for her by Muriel Johnstone.
“The dance is dedicated to all the Scottish Country Dancing Lassies of Pitlochry - past, present, future - especially my mother, Lillie Donald, and my dear friend, Ruth Cunnison, the other ‘Ruth frae Pitlochry’”.
The dance had been nominated for RSCDS Book 48.
