This dance had its first glimmerings at the dance workshop in Prescott, Arizona in 1998. A couple of the dances there had some very flirtatious figures in them, which caught Glenda’s imagination and inspired the name (yes, the name very much came first!). This when combined with the influence of several contra dance figures which really have no direct translations into Scottish Country Dance (namely the Gypsy), resulted in the development of this dance which is designed to encourage the dancing couple to really play up the social aspect.
