Platinum is the well-known term used for a 70th anniversary. Platinum was also recognised officially as a precious metal for fine jewellery when a new hallmarking act was introduced in 1975. The Birmingham Assay Office is now the largest in the world and among its activities is the hallmarking of platinum when an orb mark can be applied.
