Note: Vrolijkheid is both an Afrikaans and a Dutch word that means great merriment, cheerfulness or happiness… It is also the name of a nature reserve just outside McGregor in the Breede River Valley. This dance echoes the jig ‘Joie de Vivre’ (Joy of living) and was devised to celebrate a dancing weekend in McGregor.
