Заметки
This dance originally came out in 1948, when the then Princess Elizabeth used to be »the Duchess of Edinburgh« before becoming Queen Elizabeth II.
Her husband, Prince Philip, of course continued to use the title.
The RSCDS officially »blessed« it by including it in Book 39 when it came out in 1996, to celebrate the Queen’s 70th birthday.
The following corrections were included on a loose sheet “Notes on Dances by Bob Grant June 1996”, when Book 39 was first sold in the Summer School bookshop:
1-8 1st woman ‘hovers’ while 1st man faces top before casting
9-16 Nearer hands
25-32 Second time through, 1st couple crosses to the bottom giving left hands
This dance had been published originally in 1948 by Rae, Macintosh with original music by John Robertson (The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and Birkhall). The 1996 RSCDS Book 39 incorrectly named the first tune as Dunnottar Castle from the Middleton Collection (this is the music used for Miss Florence Adams from RSCDS Book 38). An erratum slip was produced.
