The Rainbow Falls are on the Kerikeri River. Suggested CD. ‘Celtic Fire in the Music’ Bobby Brown and the Acottish Accent. Disc 2 Track 12 Selection of Strathspeys. Tunes Earl Grey (J. Hill) Blin’ Jamie (J Scott Skinner) Miss Doreen Lambert (Angus Fitchet) Rainbow Falls The Rainbow Falls (Māori name Waianiwaniwa or “water of the rainbow”) are a 27-m-high waterfall formed by the Kerikeri river near the town Kerikeri in New Zealand. Kerikeri is approximately 250 km north of Auckland, on the North Island, and was the location of the first permanent mission in New Zealand, which is why it is sometimes called “the cradle of the nation”. The Kerikeri river is a little less than 20 km long, and the waterfall is a significant sight in an area that is already quite popular with tourists to start with. Other Rainbow Falls exist elsewhere in New Zealand (near Lake Waikaremoana), in Canada (near Harrison Hot Springs in British Columbia), and twelve times altogether in the United States; the most well-known there are likely those on the island of Hilo (Hawai’i).
