In bars 33-36, for the touch nearer hands, the deviser Isabel Neves wants people to touch palms with fingers pointing upwards and maintaining contact for as long as possible, roughly two bars.
The dance was devised in memory of John Corcoran who died in 2018. He was one of the directors of St Andrews College Summer School, in Bearsden.
The deviser writes that he was “a great man, very active in his community. And very nice and kind. He would take me on trips and almost make me feel I was Scottish, not a tourist. The closest I had to a Scottish father. I felt like a real Scot on a weekend trip the few times he took me somewhere. My first fish and chips, in Callander, ice cream in beautiful Luss come to mind. And he took a day to take me to Loch Katrine, to do the tour on the steamship I’ve been dreaming of since I was eighteen.”
