The dance, devised by Jack Pressley, was written for my wife Jamie Pressley who comes from Cairnbulg, Aberdeenshire, known locally as “Belger” and the word “Quine” is the Doric word for girl. The village of Cairnbulg which adjoins the village of Inverallochy is situated on the North-East coast of Scotland at one end of a beautiful bay of golden sand with the town of Fraserburgh being at the other end. The dance was written originally as a two couple demonstration dance. It may be danced as a two couple demo or in a three or four couple set.
