The dance, named for the devisor’s wife Ellie, was first taught at the Lethbridge, Alberta, Workshop, April 6-8, 1990.
The idea for the non-progressive Knot occurred simultaneously to Ellie and me while we were watching a Knot being performed one evening. An alternative name for the figure is the “Slip Knot.”
