Ashbourne is the name of a property in Chenequa near my hometown. The property has a sign by their long wooded drive, but the hills block the view of the actual house. When I was young, I liked to imagine what lay beyond Ashbourne woods. In the dance, I imagine kids hiding and playing in the woods, sweeping around the trees and going through the woods hand-in-hand. I like how the active dancers share touching moments with each other, but also with the “trees.”
