Dun Haakon or Castle Moil is a ruined castle located near Kyleakin on the Island of Skye.
Built by the Vikings before the 10th century, while the western Isles was a Viking Kingdom.
Subsequently owned by Clan MacKinnon, who rebuilt it as a Tower House in the 15th century.
According to local tradition, The castle had a chain or thick rope, across the narrow Kyle Akin and collected tolls from passing ships. Their alternative was to sail around the Island of Skye through the dangerous waters of the Minch.
