Taransay: is an island off the west coast of the Island of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. Nothing between
it and the Americas but the rolling Atlantic. My grandmother’s parents, on both sides of her family,
came from Taransay. They relocated to Harris and Lewis in the 1830s.
