In the year 2022, The Late, HM The Queen, then Patron of the RSCDS, celebrated her Platinum Jubilee. And for the Berkhamsted Strathspey & Reel Club it was its Platinum year too. Coming in threes, Jeremy and Anne Newton, past presidents (1983-1985 & 2021-2023 respectively), also shared in the celebrations with their 70th birthdays in May. This dance, with the depiction of threes in the patterns, commemorates that remarkable year.
The music was gifted to Stephen and especially composed by John Renton in May 2022 for this dance.
Teaching notes
:
Bars 1-2 1st couple dancing down to meet use long steps to reach the bottom of the set.
Bars 7-8 1st couple curve into second place to flow into six hands round halfway.
Bars 13-16 2nd and 3rd couples change direction on bar 13 to dance left hands across.
Similarly,
Bars 21-24 2nd and 3rd couples change direction on bar 21 to dance right hands across.
Bar 32 1st couple quarter turn about to face in ie the short way.
