When I had my two legs operated on (see Once on the Right, Once on the Left), I didn’t feel very autonomous and I was advised by the surgeon to go to a rehabilitation centre to improve quickly and to avoid home accidents which might lead to another operation!!! So I stayed several days in hospital waiting for a place in such a centre, but since there weren’t any, I finally went home on an H.A.D. (hospital at home) programme. A childhood friend of mine, Nathalie Comaille-Lenhoff, who is a physiotherapist but lives a long way from our home, managed to come and stay a few days with me right at that time. So I had my own private physiotherapist,even better than having a place in a rehabilitation centre!
This dance was devised for her, I really enjoyed the few days with her, and I was very grateful for her help. 1st man represents the private physiotherapist who guides the patient (1st woman) throughout the dance, except for the last 2 bars, when the patient has become autonomous and can set alone.
