The Athenaeum in Glasgow was the venue for the first meeting of the Scottish Country Dance
Society on 26 November, 1923.
The building, in 179 Buchanan Street (near the Glasgow Queen Street railway station) still stands and now houses the
Hard Rock Café
. On 26 November 2023, a commemorative plaque was unveiled to underscore the importance of the building to the
