From the dance notes: This dance was devised for the children attending the NZ 2009 JAM Camp, (Junior Associate Members) held over the first weekend in October, in Masterton. This dance was put on the Saturday night programme, and all the children learnt it on the night. The name of the camp was “The Wildlife Fun Camp, and Pukeko’s (NZ birds) were the birds used for the logo. They have beautiful blue coloured features on their breast, and red perks, they also have long spindly legs. Elaine Lethbridge was the organiser of the camp, and it gathered 70 juniors from all around NZ. Elaine was keen to have a dance devised for this school. So Piri Pukeko’s was the result.
