Port Meadow is a large meadow along the River Thames to the northwest of Oxford starting very closed to where I used to live in Jericho and extending up to Wolvercote. Horses and cattle can often be found grazing on the land, with the right to graze animals having been recorded in the 1086 Doomsday Book. The site remains a popular area for recreation amongst the locals.
