This is one of four dances I devised during or just after our trip in August & September to the UK, France, & Italy in 2024.
Pardlestone Farm is a delightful B&B where Damon and I stayed for a week in Somerset (Damon’s home county) in the UK. This very pretty spot is nestled in the countryside, a place that you can bring your own horse and trek up on the Quantock Hills. It is also close to Kilve Beach – renowned among fossil hunters for dinosaur fossils.
Our hosts at Pardlestone Farm couldn’t have done more for us. Mark was up with the lark every morning to light the fire in the dining room so that by the time we arrived it was cosy. The jams (including the gooseberry!) were all made in house and Ann always made a point of checking in with us at the end of each day’s wanderings to see how they’d gone – and took the time to really find out.
From this base, we visited Ross-on-Wye, for a day-time dance class, and the Taunton Caledonian Society for an entertaining and energetic evening’s dancing. Dancing in Damon’s home county was a treat and although this was our 5th trip to the UK it was the first time we have danced here in Somerset, as we have mainly travelled to this part of the world in early summer, in June & July when the dancers have stopped for the summer break.
