The notes say that “The figures of this dance represent a Shetland wedding where the procession to the Church was always led by a fiddler. Bars 25-32 represent the Bride’s Reel, in which the bridesmaid takes the place of the bride halfway through, to keep her safe from the fairies who might abduct her.”
