Inscribed “for Alex Stewart who walked with me up Kinnoull Hill to the tower on 4-11-94.” The notes also add that: Kinnoull Hill rises very steeply above the north bank of the River Tay to the south east of Perth. The tower on Kinnoull Hill, and the one on Binn Hill a short distance to the east, were built by the 9th Earl of Kinnoull in the 18th century in imitation of the castles on the Rhine. The dance is described as for 3 couples, though a 4th couple is needed to dance around. The notes say a couple in the next set (or an imaginary couple) may be used for this.
