Заметки
The Lammermuir Hills can be found south-east of Edinburgh, where they
form the boundary between East Lothian and the Borders. They are not
particularly high (up to 535 m or so) but steep and impassable in many
places. The main road from Edinburgh to England takes a detour around
them rather than going across.
The hills provide the setting for Sir Walter Scott’s novel
The Bride
of Lammermoor
as well as Gaetano Donizetti’s opera
Lucia di
Lammermoor
(which is based on the novel).
