From the notes: “Maarten van der Giessen’s life was lived in three worlds; in Nederland, where he was born; in Australia, where he spent the latter three quarters of his life and in the world of Scottish Country Dancing. He was for a time Secretary of the Melbourne & District Branch of the Society, as well as being an occasional relief teacher. He was a friend to many and always courteous on and off the dance floor.”
