Note iin Whetherly book 24: this dance originally titled ‘Mr Lane’s Maggot’ was another late addition by Henry Playford to the ninth edition of “The Dancing Master”. From the 1718 issues on the dance was retitled ‘Richmond Ball or Mr Lane’s Magot’.
