Заметки
Book 26 credits this dance to the
New Lanark Collection
of Robert Owen. New Lanark was a cotton-processing “model village” on the river Clyde south-east of Glasgow which was essentially owned by Owen, who was a social reformer as well as an entrepreneur and believed in keeping his workers entertained in a wholesome fashion, which apparently included dancing. There is no evidence that Owen himself wrote the dance; he probably underwrote the publication of the dance book.
However, the Combined RSCDS
SCD Books 25-30
state: The source previously given for this dance is
The Collection of Robert Owen
but we have not been able to verify this.
