Devised on Sunday 12th July, 1970. The title is that of an Irish reel. Iain devised the dance after Noeline and he had inadvertently danced a chase instead of the figure of eight in “Corn Rigs” during an evening at the Buchan Street Club in Christchurch - hence the choice of name. Suitable recorded music is any arrangement for “Corn Rigs” particularly that of Stan Hamilton. Los Angeles Branch chair Ann McBride (a native of Northern Ireland herself): a “rambling pitchfork” is an itinerant laborer, meaning something like a migrant-worker farmhand.
