Заметки
In western Scotland, the A83 road connects Tarbet on the western shore of Loch Lomond to Campbeltown on the Kintyre peninsula. »Rest and be thankful« is the name of a viewpoint and picnic area on the A83, at the summit of its pass through the Arrochar Alps between Loch Long and Loch Fyne. The name derives from an inscribed stone that marked the summit on the old »drover’s road« constructed by soldiers in 1753. Its suggestion is very sensible given that the old road up Glen Croe from Loch Long ended in a very steep climb up to the pass. The modern A83 does not keep to the bottom of the glen, for a more gradual incline.
