The instructions for this dance also give a variation for four couples. In 21-24 1st couple cast to 4th place. Then in 25-32 all four couples set twice and turn partners RH.

At my home on the Gareloch in Scotland, our living room was upstairs. It was right on the water and at night, when it was dark, we could follow the fish by the trails of phosphorus they left behind as they darted to and fro – hence “The Sparkling Loch”.
