From the original instructions “Devised as a surprise for Harry Ways, and first danced in 1973. Harry was ‘founding father’ and first Chairman of the Scottish Country Dance Society of Washington, and is now the first President of the Washington, D. C. Branch, RSCDS. And well deserves a dance.”
