Originally SCDDB attributed this dance to
Hugh A Thurston
but according to
issue 2228
the deviser was reported as unknown in the original Thistle #16 article - although similar to Thurston’s
Rosslyn Castle
. It was probably devised around 1962.
The tune was originally given as
Old Rosin the Beau
but is now corrected to the similarly named, but apparently not identical,
Rosin the Bow
.
