The dance notes say this was devised "following a visit to Kinderdijk, near Rotterdam, HolIand. This locality is unique for its rows of windmills, nineteen in total, dating from the eighteenth century, all of whIch are still functional. All the left and right hands across figures in this dance represent the sails of the mills turning in the wind.
