The TGV
The first
train à grande vitesse
or TGV (“high-speed train”) ran in 1981 between Paris and Lyon; today there are TGV lines from Paris to various cities all over France such as Marseille, Montpellier, Strasbourgh, Lille, Rennes, and Bordeaux, plus there are connections to neighbouring countries like Germany. A connection to Turin (Italy), which will use the world’s longest rail tunnel, is being constructed.
