This dance was devised in Summer 1998 by Carola Fischer (once Tress) to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Kuckucksnest (Cuckoo’s Nest -
http://www.kuckucksnest.com/engl/
).
In this dance couples 2 and 4 are the dancing couples. The dance ‘changes sides’ every second time through. That means, the 2nd and 4th time through top and bottom changes, people start from the opposite side and performing every movement with the left shoulder, left hand, etc. Just the 5-couple poussette is danced the same way, changing the (original) top couple to the bottom.
The 5-couple poussette is described as follows:
Couples 2 to 5 dance the 2nd couple’s part of a poussette, 1st couple dance out and turn on bar 1, dance down on bars 2-4, down and turn on 5, then all turn half way round on bar 6. On bars 7 + 8 pass right shoulders and dance out to opposite sides with two skip-change. (Except in the 5th time through, where couples dance a ‘normal’ fall back.)
As music the deviser suggests recordings of The Plantation Reel.
