This dance tells a story about Robert Burns, well known for his interest in the opposite sex.
In the first eight bars he sees a young lady making her way to the same social function (a Scottish country dance function of course) to which he is going. In the next eight bars he mingles with the other guests, keeping an eye on the young lady. In the third figure he gets an introduction, and in the final figure they dance together.
