The dance notes explain that “The Cadger’s Bridge crosses the Biggar Burn at the west end of the main street of Biggar. William Wallace is said to have crossed the bridge disguised as a cadger (hawker or carrier) before defeating Edward I in a battle to the south-east of the town.”
