I dreamed up this dance while driving down to Morland (near Penrith in Cumbria) at the end of May for the Morland Scottish Dancing Week.
The entry into the reel of four from the left hands across is similar to that in “Dream Maker”.
The “Dragon” in the title could come from my recent trip to Japan, where there are many dragons. There is a famous temple in Kyoto which has a dragon painted on the ceiling. The dragon’s eye is in the middle of the ceiling and, no matter where you stand, the dragon’s eye is always looking at you. I was given a silk kimono bath robe with dragons printed on it. The title could also come from Morland where the landlady of the local hostelry used to be called “The Dragon”. Sadly, the Dragon’s Pub has now been closed, leaving only one
hostelry in the village.
