Other notes from
Greenburn Book 3:
When 1st couple are repeating the dance, during bars 21 -24, 1st and original 4th couples can turn with the right hand one and a half times, before dancing the circle. This is a convenient way of taking the original first couple down to the bottom to be ready for a clean start with the new top couple.
Mrs. Zuridis has written an article about me for the London Reel. In it she says that if she ever creates a dance it will be called “Drewry’s Cake”. Maybe this dance will help her on her way, but I hope that she does not think that I am an absolute fruit-cake or even a half-baked one!
Please also note, the spelling of this dance is not consistent. In “New dances by John Drewry (devised in the period 1999 - 2000)” this dance is spelled “Fruit Cake, The”. In the “Greenburn Book 3” (2000) and in
The Reel #230
it is spelled “The Fruit-Cake”.
