From the dance notes: ‘This is a castle in Wallasey, Wirral, near Liverpool. It was once a sporting residence for the Earls of Derby and there is a local belief that the first “Derby” was run on Leasowe Race Course. Latterly it has been used as a convalescent home and then an hotel and conference centre.’
