Notes from Greenburn Book 3:
For Margaret Pirie of St Cyrus at the request of her husband Charlie.
John Orr was born at Bridgeton, near St Cyprus, in 1794. He went to India and worked in Madras. He retired in 1843 and died in November 1845. He left money in a trust, proceeds from which were to be divided by five and given each year to the oldest, youngest, tallest and shortest brides married in St Cyrus Kirk; the fifth portion was to be used for the relief of the poor of the parish. This distribution of money continues to the present day and the recipients are known as ‘The Dowry Brides of St Cyrus’.
The progression is similar to that in
The Earl of Mansfield
.
In this dance 4th couple do not dance until Bars 29-32.
Bars 1-8 could be regarded as 1st woman comparing her statistics with those of the other women in the set.

Bars 17-24 are the bridal progression!
