‘Scotlands Road of Romance’ is the title of a book written by Augustus Muir describing the flight of Bonnie Prince Charlie to France after the battle of Culloden. The route took the Pretender through Doune and many of the places of refuge identified by the author I have used as titles for some of the dances in the Doune -Collections Vols. 1 & 2. Muir’s book, published in the 1930’s is unfortunately now out of print.
